Funeral Rites Held Monday for Nicholas Loewen
Lawler Man Dies Friday Following Heart Attack
LAWLER -- Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock from St John's Lutheran Church for Nicholas Loewen, 81, who died at 9:30 Friday morning, April 26, at St Joseph's Hospital, New Hampton, where he had been a patient for a few days following a heart attack. Mr Loewen had been in ill health for the past six months.
The Rev Paul Meyer of New Hampton officiated at the last rites and interment was in the parish cemetery.
Nicholas Loewen was born on March 17, 1876 in Luxembourg. He was the son of John and Elizabeth Loewen. On June 1, 1908 he was united in marriage to Martha Schumann of Lawler. To this union five children were born.
Mr Loewen was engaged in the produce business for many years. He had lived in Lawler for 55 years and in Chickasaw County 60 years.
Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Mrs Russell (Mildred) Faber, Brookfield, Ill; Mrs Glenn (Gertrude) Rehorst, New Hampton; Mrs James (Josephine) Bolger, Cedar Falls; one son, Carl, New Hampton. There are also five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Edna.
